How Far Do You Go in Planning for the Unplanned?

I read with interest an article written about the recent release of wild animals in the USA that subsequently created an issue of risks to members of the public and the potential knock on effect in people maybe not being able to get into work or leave their homes. With regards to business continuity plans and disaster recovery initiatives it poses the question, how far is too far in the scenarios you come up with? Whilst you may not be specific in business continuity planning, I guess this would be classed the same as a pandemic which would also affect staff being able to get to work?

So, how far do you go in planning for the unplanned?
