Putting all your eggs in one basket, where is your backup?

I read with interest an article regarding the loss of service for Blackberry users and the associated comments, it’s highlighted another risk area for businesses that rely on technology such as the Blackberry for staff working around the globe.

Like the I-phone, it is a fantastic tool for allowing people access to emails where they cannot use laptops or get access to Wi-Fi. Yet it has highlighted how much people rely on it & the fact that companies or business users may not have thought of alternatives or building this into their business continuity plans?

I mean is the fact that your staff cannot be contacted or cannot operate effectively classed as a disaster?

It also poses another question for RIM, the company which makes the smartphones, how effective is their back up and disaster recovery process??

Back to the age old question, what on earth did we do before mobile phones?
