Before deploying a virtualisation solution it is first necessary to gain an understanding of the current server configuration, the existing system utilisation and identify systems that can or cannot be successfully virtualised.

Blue Chips Virtualisation Assessment allows you to gain insight into your IT resource utilisation and develop a virtualisation roadmap for server containment and consolidation and design an optimal solution to achieve maximum performance.  We also provide cross-platform virtualisation services.

Blue Chip recommends that a Virtualisation Capacity Planning assessment be undertaken for a period of 15-30 days across the existing server estate.

This assessment will allow you to:

• Assess the current workload capacity of your datacenter or desktop infrastructure through comprehensive discovery and inventory of IT assets.
• Measure system workloads and capacity utilisation across various elements of the IT infrastructure— including by function, location and environment.
• Plan for capacity optimisation through detailed utilisation analysis, benchmarking, trending and identification of capacity optimisation alternatives. Identify resources and establish plan for virtualisation, hardware purchase or resource redeployment.
• Decide on the optimal solution by evaluating various alternatives through scenario modelling and “What-If” analyses. Determine what alternative best meets the pre-defined criteria.
• Monitor resource utilisation through anomaly detection and alerts based on benchmarked thresholds. Help generate recommendations to ensure ongoing capacity optimisation.

Following completion of the assessment Blue Chip will provide you with a report that will include the following: 

• Potential virtualisation scenarios – for server consolidation and containment.
• Identify any servers that are not suitable for virtualisation.
• High-level roadmap and next steps.
